Kongres empat tahunan PSSI dilaksanakan pada 19 Maret agar ketua umum baru bisa merayakan HUT PSSI satu bulan kemudian. Ketua umum PSSI Nurdin Halid mengungkapkan, kongres empat tahunan PSSI yang mengagendakan pemilihan ketua umum baru periode 2011-15 bakal dilangsungkan pada 19 Maret mendatang di Pulau Bintan, Kepulauan Riau.

Perjuangan Guntur Triaji memperoleh kesempatan berlatih di Nike Academy dimulai. Dua hari ke depan merupakan penentuan bagi 100 peserta The Nike Chance dari 40 negara untuk memperebutkan satu tempat berlatih selama setahun di Nike Academy, London, Inggris.

The fortunes of Asian football on and off the pitch couldn’t be any more different.

Whilst off the pitch there has been a recent swing of power towards the West, on the pitch it is the East that is dominating.

At the recent 2011 AFC Congress in Doha, long time AFC ExCo member Dr. Chung Mong-joon of Korea was defeated by 35-year-old Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein.

In the other major election to take place at the Congress, Japan’s Kohzo Tashima and China’s Zhang Jilong lost out to Thailand’s Worawi Makudi and Manilal Fernando from Sri Lanka for the coveted seat on the FIFA ExCo.

Makudi and Fernando and both close allies of Mohammed Bin Hammam, arguably the most powerful man in Football. It is the first time in a long time that neither Japan or Korea will have a representative on the FIFA ExCo, representing a seismic shift in power.

But while all this has been taking place, the battle on the pitch, which you could argue is far more important, has been trending in the opposite direction.

For the first time since 1974, no team from West Asia qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and now, for the first time since 1964, the final four at the AFC Asian Cup won’t include a team from West Asia.

In fact it will only be he fourth time since 1964 that a team from West Asia hasn’t won the tournament. And in all honesty, no West Asian team looked likely.

Only Iran looked like they had the cattle for a run to the title, however their dream was ended last night by a quality South Korean side looking to win their first Asian Cup since 1960.

It’s not just a trend at national level either, a look at the AFC Champions League, Asia’s premier club competition, shows the dominance of East Asia over the last five years. The last five winners of the AFC Champions League have come from either Japan or Korea.

It’s an interesting situation given the increasing speculation that an East-West split might take place. The issue of FIFA World Cup allocations would arguably be the hottest issue of all. If the split absorbs in Oceania, it would increase the total allocation to five spots.

Would that be split evenly, 2.5 spots each, or would one side win out by claiming three spots leaving the other with just two. How would that be decided? Performances on the pitch suggest the East deserve the larger allocation, yet getting that through would require a lot of behind the scenes work.

That would be increasingly difficult now given the control that West Asia has over the AFC boardroom in Kuala Lumpur.

With FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to begin in earnest in September this year, it will be interesting to see if the East Asian dominance on the pitch continues and just what affect, if any, the West Asian dominance will have off the pitch.

It’s a battle worth keeping an eye on.

    

Dua Gol Irfan Bachdim Kandaskan PSM Makassar dengan Skor 2-1

Dua gol dari striker Persema Malang Irfan Bachdim sukses mengandaskan PSM Makassar. Gol Irfan Bachdim tercipta pada menit ke-90 dan 33. Hingga peluit akhir dibunyikan, skor 2-1 untuk Persema Malang. 

Persema yang bermain di kandang sendiri, yakni Stadion Gajayana Malang, Sabtu (22/1/2011), Persema lebih dulu ketinggalan gol. Striker PSM Makasar yakni Srecko Mitrovic sukses mengoyak gawang Persema pada menit ke-19. 

Tuan rumah yang mengenakan custom merah, pasca terciptanya gol tersebut langsung tersengat.Dua striker Persema yakni Irfan Bachdim dan Jaya Teguh Angga dibantu terus menggedor pertahanan PSM. 

Pada menit ke-33, wasit menunjuk titik putih untuk Persema Malang akibat pelanggaran yang dilakukan pemain bek PSM. Irfan Bachdim yang dipercaya menjadi eksekutor, menjalangkan tugas dengan baik. Tendangan kerasnya ke atas langsung merobek jala PSM. 

Jelang turun minum, gempuran Bachdim Cs merepotkan barisan PSM Makasar. Namun hingga babak pertama berakhir, skor tetap 1-1. 

Babak kedua, guyuran hujan deras terjadi di Stadion Gajayana. Namun kedua tim saling serang. Persema pada babak kedua semakin menekan. Beberapa peluang Bachdim gagal dikonversi menjadi gol.Jelang pertandingan berakhir dengan perpanjangan waktu 5 menit, tepatnya pada menit ke-90, Irfan Bachdim yang mendapatkan umpan di kotak penalti langsung melesakkan tendangan keras. Kiper PSM tak mampu menjangkau si kulit bundar yang melesak di pojok kiri atas.Hingga peluit akhir dibunyikan, skor 2-1 untuk kemenangan Persema Malang.

Timnas U23 : Coret Pemain LPI, PSSI Otoriter

Pemerhati sepak bola, Jayadi Nas, menilai pihak PSSI sangat otoriter dan tidak adil. Ketidak-adilan PSSI karena melarang pemain yang berlaga di LPI membela tanah airnya.Bahkan, menurut Jayadi, keputusan itu dianggap telah melanggar hak warga negara yang tentunya sudah diatur dalam undang-undang.''Cristian Gonzales yang bukan berdarah Indonesia saja diputuskan dinaturalisasi untuk bisa memperkuat Indonesia. 

Sebaliknya anak bangsa sendiri justru malah dilarang untuk membela tanah airnya," ujar Jayadi.PSSI bersikeras tidak mengakui keberadaan LPI yang dinilainya ilegal. Sebagai konsekuensi sanksinya, organisasi sepak bola yang dipimpin Nurdin Halid selama tujuh tahun itu mencoret pemain LPI dari timnas Indonesia.

Sepuluh pemain LPI tidak masuk dalam daftar 26 pemain timnas u23 Indonesia pra-Olimpiade 2012. Sebanyak delapan pemain sudah diberitahukan langsung ancaman pencoretan saat menjalani seleksi timnas pada 7 Januari lalu. Alfred Riedl, pelatih timnas Indonesia, yang langsung memberitahukan kabar tersebut dalam sebuah pertemuan tertutup.Kedelapan pemain itu adalah Lucky Wahyu, Andik Firmansyah (Persebaya 1927), Novan Setyo Songko (Persibo Bojonegoro), Fandy Edy, Dajusman Trisadi, Rachmat (PSM Makassar), Reza Mustofa Ardiansya dan Joko Ribowo (Persema Malang). Sementara Kim Kurniawan dan Irfan Bachdim, dua pemain keturunan yang memperkuat Persema Malang, juga terancam dicoret dari timnas. Nasib Irfan belum jelas karena Riedl sebelumnya memproyeksikannya untuk timnas SEA Games 2011.

It’s Iran again.

For South Korea, Iran is the team who always kill off the dream of winning the Asian Cup. When the final whistle went to signal South Korea’s 4-1 win over India, you could hear a big sigh from Korean football fans. Not because the result was underwhelming, but because it meant they will again face Iran at quarter final stage – for the fifth time in a row.

Since 1996, South Korea and Iran have developed a fierce rivalry like no other in Asian Cup. The very first meeting of two teams concluded with Iran registering a 6-2 smashing, causing South Korean gaffer Park Jong-hwan to resign.

Four years later, South Koreans exacted revenge against Iran by beating them 2-1. Lee Dong-guk scored the golden goal, which was the common rule adopted by competitions at that stage.

But, South Korea’s Iranian nightmare wasn’t over. In 2004, Iran enjoyed a thrilling 4-3 win against South Korea courtesy of an Ali Karimi hat-trick.

In the latest installment between the two teams, South Korea won via a penalty shootout, with Mehdi Mahdavikia and Rasoul Khatibi’s attempts denied by Lee Woon-jae, eliminating Iran from the tournament.

Regardless of the results, neither South Korea and Iran went on to win their next mach. Coincidentally, they finished in third place each time.

With both teams regarded as a strong contender for the title, the match will be an enthralling affair.

The games between the two nations are usually close affairs and according to the record, it seems like Iran’s turn this time. Fans in Korea are really looking forward to the match and as they say in Football - anything is possible.

  

Klub ISL Diharapkan Bebas APBD di Tahun 2014

Nurdin Halid memberikan sedikit gambaran mengenai penggunaan dana APBD dalam kata sambutannya di Kongres II PSSI. Namun, baru 2014 diharapkan PSSI bebas APBD.

Penggunaan dana APBD untuk mendanai klub sepakbola belakangan juga mendapatkan perhatian dari Menteri Dalam Negeri Gamawan Fauzi. Ditargetkan di tahun 2012 tak ada lagi klub yang dapat subsidi dari APBD.
