Dimitar Berbatov Called Up For Bulgaria

Having drawn three World Cup Qualifying games and then getting thrashed 6-1 in a friendly with Serbia, former Bulgarian boss Plamen Markov was swiftly shown the door and Stanimir Stoilov was given his old job back.

Bulgaria face Switzerland next week in a friendly match and Stoilov has immediately recalled five of his former international players that Markov had chosen to ignore, at his peril. Also called up for the match is Dimitar Berbatov but that goes without saying I guess.

Back in are central defenders Elin Topuzakov and Iliyan Stoyanov and left back Ivaylo Petkov. He also recalled midfielder Dimitar Telkiyski the youngster up front Valeri Domovchiyski.

Bulgaria are so far third in European qualifying Group Eight having drawn all their games so far and trail leaders Italy by seven points.
