Manchester United's Manucho Signs A Deal With Hull City

HULL City were so happy with the loan of Frazier Campbell they tried to buy him. That is until Spurs took him on a season long loan in part exchange for Dimitara Berbatov. Now they have come back for more in the shape of Manucho our Angolan striker.

The 25-year-old Angolan has received a work permit and will go straight into the squad for today's Barclays Premier League clash against Arsenal at the KC Stadium.

Mateus Alberto Contreiras Gonçalves was born 7 March 1983 in Luanda and is better known as Manucho. He moved from Petro Atletico to Manchester United in January 2008. Before playing a game for United, however, he was loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos for the remainder of the 2007–08 season, due to issues with obtaining a UK work permit. Manucho received a work permit soon after returning to Manchester United for pre-season training in July 2008, and made his debut for the club in the League Cup against Middlesborough on 23 September 2008. Short of first team opportunities at Old Trafford, however, on 16 January 2009 he joined Hull City on loan until the end of the 2008–09 season. He is also a member of the Angolan national team.

Manucho is Hull's second signing of the January transfer window after Thursday's permanent capture of winger Kevin Kilbane from Wigan.....Back To Home Page...

Whatever Happened To Manchester United's Manucho?

For those of you who were wondering where the hell Manucho has gone then fear not. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has assured Angola star Manucho he's in his long-term plans.

The centre-forward has been linked with a permanent move to Le Havre, but Fergie says he is counting on Manucho among several of the club's top youngsters.

“Our pool of players is getting stronger as the younger lads mature and come into the squad, knowing they will perform. I am thinking of players like Jonny Evans, Rafael, Darron Gibson, Rodrigo Possebon, Danny Welbeck and Manucho. We have a good strong squad and I’m confident we have the men for the task. Manucho To Go On Loan To West Brom

Tony Mowbray has problems at WBA, they can't score ! His desire to add extra firepower in the January transfer window has brought attention to Manchester United reserve striker Manucho. This could set up a loan move to WBA for the Angolan striker.

Manucho signed for United last season from the Angolan League but was loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos, while his work-permit application was processed. He was subsequently named in the ‘team of the tournament’ at this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations, after scoring four goals in as many games. He was given permission to play in England this summer and made his United debut in the Carling Cup against Middlesbrough in September but is yet to figure in the Premier League.

Albion have a shortlist of more than half-a-dozen forwards, with a striker top of Mowbray’s January shopping list. It is also known to contain Real Mallorca’s Argentine striker Oscar Trejo, who remains a target after the clubs were unable to strike a deal in August yet Mowbray is still pledging to stick with Bednar and Miller, resisting the temptation to throw £3million summer signing Luke Moore into the fray.

“As a manager, the worst thing you can do is bin somebody, because they haven’t scored for a game or two, and stick somebody else in. Where do you go when he hasn’t scored for a game or two? Do you go back to the ones you’ve just binned? You’ve got to show a bit of loyalty and trust and every day you have to judge the mentality of your players. If that mentality is showing you that they’ve had a enough for a while, want a breather and don’t want to be in the firing line, you have to sense that and make changes.
